We’ve heard from a few people telling us that they are unable to view Channel 31 because they have a digital TV or have Foxtel so have put together some information which should hopefully help. Unfortunately at this stage C31 is only available in analog (although OzGarage is filmed in HD Digital ready for the future) so you’ll never find it doing a scan of your digital TV or set top box, it is also not repeated via Foxtel so no help there. The solution depends on your configuration, so lets look at a couple of options.

New TV with Digital Tuner build in

Almost every new generation TV, whether it be plasma or LCD has an integrated high definition tuner, what isn’t marketed and what a lot of people do not realise is that most also contain an analog tuner. Selecting this mode or channels will differ from unit to unit to best to consult your manual. Both the digital tuner and analog tuner will both use the same aerial so you shouldnt need to change anything here.

Digital Set Top Box

If you are using your old TV with a digital set top box to enjoy digital television the solution is also quite simple. You’ll need to use the tuner built into your TV to watch C31, just like you did before the set top box. The problem may be that you have moved the aerial from the TV into the set top box. Your box should have an ANT OUT or similar port, this allows the signal to pass through the box and into the tv. All you need is a cable which is commonly called an RF Lead, this will connect from the ANT OUT on the box to the ANT IN on the TV.

To select C31 you will probably need to select ‘TV’ on the remote or cycle through the AV modes to select the inbuilt tuner then you should find Channel 31 just as you would have before. If its not there go into the menu and perform an automatic scan.

Foxtel

If you have Foxtel you won’t find C31 in the channel selections as it is not re-broadcast on Foxtel. The solution should be quite easy as long as you still have an aerial connected to the TV, if you don’t, a set of bunny ears plugged in to the ANT IN should do the job.

As above to select C31 you will probably need to select ‘TV’ on the remote or cycle through the AV modes to select the inbuilt tuner then you should find Channel 31 just as you would have before. If its not there go into the menu and perform an automatic scan.

Hopefully one of these methods works for you and allows you to watch OzGarage as well as many other excellent community TV programs.

If you have any other tips please let us know by posting a comment below.
